The Millicent C. Kaplan Endowment Fund for Children’s Programs in the Elmwood Park Free Public Library was established in January 1999 by Millicent and Melvin Kaplan to insure that special programs and services would always be available for children. Since 1972, Mrs. Kaplan was an active member of the library’s Board of Trustees and held various positions during her extensive tenure including President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. She was also instrumental in founding the Friends of the Elmwood Park Public Library and served as the President of the Elmwood Park Historical Society. The library’s Children’s Room is dedicated in her memory.
Donations can be made to the Elmwood Park Public Library in honor of the Millicent C. Kaplan Endowment Fund for a variety of occasions including birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, deaths, etc. All of the donations will be used to fund the library’s children’s programs and services and a letter of acknowledgment will be sent to the donor.
